This documentary film by Canadian filmmaker Paul Saltzman will be released in Japan on the 60th anniversary of the Beatles’ debut. The trailer opens with one of Saltzman’s famous photographs of the Beatles displayed in the Beatles Museum’s “Beatles Story”. 1968, the Beatles were invited by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of the Transcendental Meditation movement, to Rishikesh, Ganges, North India. The Beatles, a world-famous rock band, were staying at an ashram (monastery) on the banks of the Ganges River in Rishikesh, North India, at the invitation of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of the Transcendental Meditation movement.
Director Saltzman, who was 23 years old at the time, met the band by chance and captured their dreamlike eight-day stay on camera. He later rediscovered the long-forgotten photographs, and began a journey to unravel the relationship between the Beatles and India more than 50 years later.
Director Saltzman visited the ashram again with leading Beatles historian Mark Lewison to witness the moment and process of the Beatles’ songwriting during their stay in India, where many of the songs from their masterpiece and greatest album “The Beatles” (commonly known as “The White Album”) were created. The film recounts memories of witnessing the moments and processes of the Beatles’ songwriting during their stay in India, where many of the songs on “The Beatles’ White Album” were written.
Narrated by Morgan Freeman, the film also features David Lynch, executive producer, and Patti Boyd, ex-wife of George Harrison, who accompanied the Beatles to India. In addition, a total of 10 scene photos taken by director Saltzman, including four members of The Beatles, have been released. The film reveals the background of these photos and rare episodes with the members of the Beatles.
