It was decided that the 49ers would face the top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles of the NFC in the conference championship, who beat the Cowboys on Sunday for their 12th straight win.

The 49ers are advancing to the conference’s summit game for the second straight year, as the 49ers’ strong defense put an end to the Cowboys’ playoff run, just as it did last season.

After spending Super Wild Card Weekend and the Divisional Round at home, the 49ers need to get a win in Philadelphia to reach the Super Bowl stage.

Head coach (HC) Kyle Shanahan is 1-1 in conference title games with the 49ers so far, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 54 when they became NFC champions in 2019. Last season, they lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the conference championship.

The 49ers and Eagles will play for a Super Bowl berth on Sunday, January 29, with a 3 p.m. kickoff.
