The Coppa Italia quarterfinals were held on February 2 between Juventus and Lazio.
Inter, Cremonese, and Fiorentina all advanced, leaving one semifinal slot up for grabs between Juventus and Lazio.
Juventus was stripped of its 15 Serie A points this season due to accounting irregularities. Considering that the Serie A title is unrealistic, the Coppa Italia is the only domestic title they have in their sights. Their quarterfinal opponent is Lazio, who are currently third in the Serie A standings. Juventus will start Federico Chiesa, Adrien Rabiot, and Dušan Vlahović. For Lazio, Felipe Anderson, Luis Alberto, and Ciro Immobile were in the starting lineup.
In the 15th minute, Filip Kostić played a one-two with Vlahovic down the left flank and fired a powerful shot from his left foot that was deflected in by the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper was able to keep the ball out of the path of Rabiot’s shot, but his effort was deflected in front of him.
In the 33rd minute, Lazio received a lateral pass from Danilo Cataldi, and F. Anderson swung in a right-foot shot. The visitors had a chance to win the game in the 33rd minute when F. Andersson received a lateral pass from Danilo Cataldi and swung in a low, punchy shot from the center of the box that just missed to the left of the goal.
The game was broken in the 44th minute. A cross ball from the left flank was played to the far side, and Kostić, who had kicked the right corner kick on the previous play, picked up the ball on the right side. He sent in an inside left-footed cross ball, and the diving Grayson Bremer headed it into the net to put Juventus ahead.
The second half was no different, and in the 70th minute, a through ball behind Manuel Locatelli was met by Moise Keane. The goalkeeper was able to keep the ball in play and finish with his right foot, but his shot was blocked by the goalkeeper. In added time, a cross from the right was met by Keane, but his timing was just off and he was unable to finish.
Time expired. Juventus advanced to the semifinals for the fourth consecutive season. In the current Coppa Italia, only the semifinals are decided by the total of the first and second legs. The first leg will be held on April 4 and 5, and the second on April 25 and 26. Juventus will play Inter, and last season’s final card will be realized in the semifinals.
