McDonald’s ‘hash Browns’ and tickets to an NBA game are now being talked about as if they were the same price.
Which should you buy, McDonald’s hash browns or NBA tickets?
The NBA is the professional basketball league in the U.S. Ticket prices vary considerably, depending on the seats and the popularity of the game. For games of popular teams, the average price of a ticket can be as high as USD 300 to USD 600, while for less popular teams the average price drops to around USD 100.
One user’s tweet about tickets to such NBA games has caused a lot of controversy.
Accompanying the tweet, “Should I buy tickets or McDonald’s hash browns?” was a picture of an NBA game ticket that said “starting at $2” and a picture of a McDonald’s hash browns that said “$2.4”.

The tickets were in the same price range as the hash browns, and the game between the Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets was played on 31 March. The Pistons are considered one of the teams with one of the lowest average ticket prices of all 30 NBA teams.
The tweet seemed to make fun of the low ticket popularity of the Pistons game, but it was also highly shocking as it was compared to hash browns, one of the cheapest items on the McDonald’s menu in the US.
A number of replies to the tweet dissed the Pistons’ performance, saying that “hash browns won’t let you down”, “hash browns are worth more” and “hash browns are more enjoyable”.
On the other hand, some pointed out that the hash browns were too expensive. The price of the hash browns published by this user was USD 2.4. In Japanese yen, the price is about 314 yen, which certainly seems a little expensive. In the US, the price of hash browns varies from state to state, with the most expensive state, Maine, charging as much as USD 2.99. This tweet became a topic of conversation because of the funny situation where “NBA tickets have become hash browns”, but it also led to the argument that “hash browns are too expensive”.
Incidentally, the game between the Detroit Pistons and the Houston Rockets was won by the Houston Rockets 115-121.
