After the 16th-seeded pair of Miyu Kato (Xymax) and Aldila Suchadi (Indonesia) was unexpectedly disqualified from the third round of the women’s doubles tournament at the French Open, one of the four major tennis tournaments, the tennis world has been inundated with criticism of their opponents who persistently claimed they were disqualified from the tournament.

Sorribes Tormo and Bouzkova are incredibly sneaky.

Kato’s team played Marie Bouzkova (Czech Republic) and Sara Sorribes Tormo (Spain), but in the middle of the match, Kato’s ball hit the ball girl as she returned it toward the opponent’s court. The referee gave a warning, but after Bouzkova and Sorribes Tormo argued for disqualification, the ruling was changed and Kato was disqualified.

Kato apologized on his social networking site, but there has been a lot of criticism of his opponents, Bouzkova and Sorribes Tormo, regarding this incident. The U.S. broadcaster “FOX” reported the pair’s actions as they were under fire. Gilles Simon, the former world No. 6 men’s player and legend, said on his Twitter page, “I didn’t even see the ball hit the ground and you claim the other team was disqualified…. I hope they don’t have trouble sleeping tonight,” he fiercely criticized.

Ricky Dimon, a well-known U.S. tennis commentator, also argued that Bouzkova and Sorribes Tormo should be banned from the French OP. On his Twitter page, he said, “Why is this a disqualification? If Sorribes Tormo and Bouzkova protested this to make their opponents unplayable, they should also be banned for the rest of the tournament,” he denounced.

Craig Shapiro, host of the Tennis Podcast, was also scathing, saying, “Sorribes Tormo and Bouzkova are incredibly despicable.

Kato’s disqualification ruling fiasco is likely to have far-reaching repercussions.
