Ron Cephas Jones, the two-time Emmy Award-winning actor who starred in “This Is Us,” has died at age 66.

His agent confirmed the news of his death to People magazine, saying that Ron Cephas Jones “had been suffering from lung problems for many years.

Ron Cephas Jones was best known for his role as William on “This is Us,” for which he won two Emmys in 2018 and 2020.

He has a daughter, Jasmine Cephas Jones, who became well-known in the theater community after her role in “Hamilton.” Jasmine won an award for Outstanding Actress in a Short Comedy or Drama Series for “#FreeRayshawn.”

 

On Instagram, her “This Is Us” co-stars also posted messages of condolence.

 

Sterling K. Brown wrote, “(He) is gone and the world has lost a little light. Brother, you are loved. And you will be missed. Keep smiling through the next phase. I’ll see you then.”

 

Chrissy Metz added, “Ron, thank you for brightening every room you entered. Your kind heart, wonderful spirit, immense talent, and beautiful smile will never be forgotten and have changed me forever,” she said in response to the news of his passing.

 

Mandy Moore said, “It was the greatest gift to have known and worked with Ron on the wild ride of ‘This Is Us. He was pure magic as a person and as an artist. I will cherish every moment forever,” she wrote.
