A character that the screenwriter of “Thor: Love & Thunder” did not know would appear in the film.
According to Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who co-wrote the screenplay for “Thor: Love & Thunder,” the latest MCU film that opened in theaters in Japan on July 8, there was a character in the film that she was not aware of appearing in the script.
That character is Hercules, the son of Zeus, who appeared with Zeus, played by Russell Crowe, in a familiar mid-credit scene in MCU films. It was revealed that Hercules would be joining the MCU after this scene, but according to Jennifer, she was not aware that Hercules would be appearing, or that Brett Goldstein, also known for his role as Roy Kent in the Apple TV+ drama “Ted Russo: The Unlikely Coach,” would be playing Hercules. He was also unaware that Brett Goldstein, also known for his role as Roy Kent in the Apple TV+ drama “Ted Russo: The Unbelievable Coach Goes.
I saw the scene [for the first time] at the premiere, like everyone else,” Jennifer told Variety. At the end of “Thor: Love & Thunder,” the message “Thor is coming back” was shown, but according to Jennifer, director Taika Waititi, who wrote the script with her, must not have known about it, and continued: “Taika told me that Thor was coming back. Just as Taika didn’t know that Thor was coming back, I didn’t know that Roy Kent would be playing Hercules.
I’m a big Marvel fan myself, so I was very happy that there was a surprise in the movie,” Jennifer continued, “As a fan of one, I was happy that there was a surprise,” and then added, “I knew that they had talked about Hercules,” Jennifer said.
‘I don’t think the conversation about Hercules was something I was allowed to overhear, but I happened to overhear it. So the moment the scene started, I realized that Zeus was talking to Hercules. I didn’t know who was cast, but I thought, ‘Isn’t this Hercules?’ ‘” he continued, recalling that although he had heard that Hercules might appear in the film, the appearance of Hercules and the casting of Brett in the same role was a surprise to him.
The MCU’s latest film, “Thor: Love & Thunder,” opens in theaters nationwide in Japan on July 8.
