Issey Miyake, the fashion designer who led Issey Miyake, a leading Japanese fashion brand launched in 1971, passed away on August 5 at the age of 84 due to hepatocellular carcinoma.

Issey Miyake’s technique of making clothes from a single piece of cloth made a huge impact, and even after the designer was succeeded by Naomi Takizawa in 2000, his clothes were loved around the world and worn by celebrities such as Mary Kate Olsen, Celine Dion, and Kanye West.
