Jay Ellis, who plays Payback in “Top Gun Maverick,” reveals how many times he has seen “Top Gun” in theaters.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Jay Ellis, who plays Payback in “Top Gun Maverick,” the sequel to “Top Gun,” revealed the number of times he has seen the film in theaters.

The huge success of “Top Gun Maverick” has given rise to the term “chasing Top Gun” in Japan, which refers to seeing the film multiple times, and Jay is one of those “chasing Top Gun” people. When interviewed by Screen Rant, Jay said that he had only seen the film at a preview screening for related parties, but things seem to have changed considerably since then. When asked if he had seen the film in theaters with the general public, he replied.

I have seen it in 11 or 12 theaters with audiences from all over the world. I’ve seen it with Korean audiences, French audiences, British audiences, and audiences in Atlanta and Miami. Me and Glen Powell, who plays the Hangman, went to movie theaters all over Los Angeles the weekend the film came out and just observed the audience watching the film. It was an interesting experience and I really enjoyed it. Well, so I think I saw it 11 times.”

Since there are higher-ups, Jay’s 11 times may not be a lot in general, but it is a lot for a performer, or at least as much as a fan. Incidentally, when asked for his thoughts on the film being a hit literally all over the world, Jay said, “Hearing that people have actually seen this film in different countries reaffirms the power of filmmaking and storytelling, the beauty of stories, and that (films) can entertain people all over the world! He stated, “I’m very happy to be a part of this.
