With the passing of Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom, serious questions have arisen regarding the titles of members of the royal family.

On Thursday, September 8, Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of the British Royal Family, breathed her last at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. She was 96 years old.

Serious questions have arisen over the titles of members of the royal family.

After the queen died, her 73-year-old son Charles became king. King Charles now inherits the title of monarch and the job as head of the British Commonwealth. Normally, a king’s wife assumes the title of queen, but not necessarily in the case of Lady Camilla.

At the time of King Charles and Lady Camilla’s marriage, when Prince Charles became king, it was announced that she would be referred to as “Princess Consort,” not as queen, according to the Washington Post.

For years afterward, many remained unsure if that would indeed be her title.

However, in a statement marking the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne in early 2022, Queen Elizabeth herself said that she hoped Prince Charles would call Camilla “Queen” when he became king.

In a post by the royal Twitter account in February of this year, Queen Elizabeth said, “When the time comes in the future when my son Charles becomes King, you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given to me. I sincerely hope that Camilla, who will continue her public duties as before, will be recognized as the ‘Queen Consort.

Therefore, it is highly likely that Mrs. Camilla’s title will no longer be queen, but queen.
