A Navy pilot who rode with Tom Cruise on a fighter jet in the movie “Top Gun Maverick” said that Tom was smiling during the filming of a scene so extreme that he said, “I’ll never do that again.

In an interview with Empire, Joseph Kosinski, the director of “Top Gun Maverick,” the biggest hit film of 2022, reflected on the shooting of the most extreme flying scene in the film.
Kosinski declared, “This is the most extreme scene we shot in the film.” It is the scene where Maverick, played by Tom Cruise, runs through the mountains for training. Tom is known for performing most of the stunts himself in this film, but in this scene, Frank Weisser, aka Walleye, an active duty Navy pilot, took the controls while Tom sat in the back seat.
According to Kosinski, the flight was more dangerous than the actual Navy training, and after filming, Wyther told him, “I won’t do it again.
‘Everything was shot in-camera. Tom Cruise is going 550 knots and flying 30 feet above the ground through a low-flying training area in Toiyabe Canyon. It’s like real Top Gun training, but you never fly that low. After we landed, Walleye came up to me and said, ‘Did you get the shot right?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I think I got it. I said, ‘Yes, I think I got it,’ and he said, ‘Good, I won’t do it again’ (laughs).

However, according to Kosinski, Tom, who rode in the fighter with Weisser in this scene, really enjoyed it and said, “He would do it a hundred more times!
