Diet Coke is a nuisance for flight attendants

Jet, a flight attendant and blogger, describes the harm that occurs when passengers order Diet Coke and other diet sodas on board, and his revolutionary solution to the problem.

It is no secret that carbonated beverages and alcohol can cause heartburn and sickness when consumed in the air, where the air is much drier than on the ground. But according to Jett, that’s not the only problem that carbonated beverages such as Diet Coke can cause in-flight.

Jett prefaces his comment by saying that he has no personal criticism of the products themselves, but he does say, “Basically, soft drinks tend to foam up in the air above the plane. The most troublesome of these is Diet Coke. It takes a long time to finish pouring it all.

For flight attendants, who have to serve many passengers in a limited amount of time, the time-consuming Diet Coke is a major distraction from their work.

To solve this problem, Jet has come up with an innovative way to pour Diet Coke. He posted a video with an explanation as a technique for pouring Diet Coke without taking too much time, and it has been attracting a lot of attention.

First, a Diet Coke can with the pull-tab open is covered by a cup, which is quickly turned upside down. If the can remains vertical, the contents will not come out due to air pressure, so the can is tilted slightly and then lifted slowly. This way, the Diet Coke can be poured with less foaming.

This pouring method is said to pour Diet Coke twice as fast as usual.

Some airlines will serve drinks in cans if you ask them to, so if you have the chance, why not try it yourself?
