Everyone tends to do it in the drive-thru…

Amber, a woman who used to work at McDonald’s in the United Kingdom, uploaded a video on TikTok, revealing behind-the-scenes details she knows as a former employee.

Amber said, “When you enter the drive-thru area to order, we employees can see your faces and hear your voices. (Even when we’re busy and I say, ‘Please hold,’ and put you on hold, we can hear you. In other words, they hear all the complaints and bad words (about the waiter),” she said.

Amber is not the only one who has heard customers in the car complaining that the wait time is too long or that the waitstaff has a bad attitude, and she has heard some former and current employees of McDonald’s say, “I’ve heard some pretty bad things, too. I’ve heard some pretty awful things, too,” one after another.

She also revealed that the drive-thru has a sensor that measures how long it takes a customer to receive his or her order, and that “the reason why we are calculating the time spent by customers is because we are competing with other McDonald’s restaurants in Japan in terms of the time required for the drive-thru. The reason why we calculate the time customers stay is because we are competing with other McDonald’s restaurants in domestic for the time it takes to get through the drive-thru.
