Singer Ariana Grande’s new boyfriend, actor Ethan Slater, has filed for divorce from his wife Lilly Jay. The two were high school classmates and married in 2018; their first child was born in 2022.
Ariana and Ethan are currently co-starring in the film version of “Wicked,” which is being shot in the UK, and have been dating for several months. Ariana is also married, but has been separated from her husband, real estate agent Dalton Gomez, since early this year with an eye toward divorce, and is reportedly planning to file divorce papers soon.
Although it is said that they started dating “after they separated from their partners,” Ethan’s wife Lily was “taken by surprise” by their love affair. A source said, “Ethan convinced Lily a few days before the news of his relationship with Ariana that he wanted a divorce. Lily didn’t think it would come to that,” a source told Us Weekly. A person close to Ariana has denied the claims.
There is also a story that Ariana’s husband Dalton wanted to start over as a couple, but Ariana is already looking forward to it. “I didn’t feel like I was being discreet,” she said of Ariana and Ethan’s on-set behavior after the reports of their love affair broke out. They were holding hands in between takes, they were both carefree and not trying to hide [their relationship],” another insider told Us Weekly.
